Sandy worked in the scuba diving industry before deciding to join yachting. She soon realised that the
yachting industry is entirely different to what she was used to. When Sandy applied and was accepted
to join the 21-month cadetship program with Meridian Adventure Academy, she was a quiet and
reserved person and the only female in her group. During her training, she never shied away from her
duties and never conformed with the typical gender-associated roles in the industry. She completed
the program, performing head and shoulders above her male teammates and earned their respect as
an equal in the industry.
Sandy is now an incredibly capable Master of Yachts, who has become more confident in her abilities,
and herself than ever thought possible. She claims that the most crucial part of her training was that
the Academy will not allow you to fail and pushes you to be the best you can be.
